Sega Announces New Free-To-Play Online RPG

by GH Staff

As far as Sega has fallen since the days of the “bit wars” and the Genesis, it’s refreshing to know that, unlike other large publishers, they’re still ready and willing to explore new IPs and Titles.

This week in Famitsu magazine, for example, Sega announced a free-to-play (F2P) online RPG (ORPG) called “The World End Eclipse” for PC, Smartphones, and the PS Vita.

According to Sega’s reveal, the game will take place in a world brought to its knees from a past war waged by dragons. The humans, previously forced off the land by these conflicts, have begun to re-settle the area by building towns upon the remains of these fallen monsters. As the days go by, the settlers face assault not only from the monsters wandering the wastes, but also from their fellow men.

The talent recruited for this project is promising, to say the least. Designing the main characters is a certain Katsumi Enami, best known for his work on the smash-hit Baccano!. The soundtrack for the game will be composed by Hitoshi Sakimoto, the man behind the music in Final Fantasy Tactics. On top of all this, Shinji Motoyama, the producer for Valkyria Chronicles, is lending his expertise as the producer for The World End Eclipse.

Sega is set to release The World End Eclipse sometime this Winter. Get on the hype train, and always remember; when it comes to gaming news and reviews, if it’s Gamer Headlines, you can’t lose.
