Nintendo has announced that Pokémon X & Y are set to receive two brand-new battle competitions.
The first battle competition is dubbed Hoenn Pokémon NicoNico Match and is exclusive to Japan. Running from October 10th to October 14th — you must register for the event at some point from October 2nd to October 10th — Hoenn Pokémon NicoNico Match is a double battle competition and, as the name clearly suggests, only Pokémon from the Hoenn Pokédex are eligible to enter.
Pokémon will either be lowered or raised to Level 25 for the battle competition, but Serebii has stated that Kyogre, Groudon and Rayquaza have all been excluded from selection in Hoenn Pokémon NicoNico Match. The battle competition also rewards each participant with 2525 Poké Miles.
Running from October 24th to October 26th — again, registration is mandatory between the dates of October 16th to October 23rd — the second battle competition is called Halloween Part and takes place worldwide. Halloween Part is a single battle competition restricting users to only select Ghost-type Pokémon from the National Pokédex (excluding the shapeshifting Pokémon Rotom and mythical Pokémon Giratina), but Pokémon who have been transferred are not eligible to enter.
Gourgeist, a Ghost-type Pokémon from the Kalos Pokédex, must be part of your team in its super-size variation for the battle competition. Additionally, each person who enters Halloween Part will receive 5 Rare Candies.
Earlier this month, Pokémon X & Y received confirmation of two events set to take place in Europe and the United States, allowing users in these regions to download a shiny version of Gengar and legendary Pokémon Diancie. Further details on the stores hosting these two promotions and dates can be found here.
Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the forthcoming instalments in the Pokémon handheld franchise, will launch worldwide on Nintendo 3DS in November.
