Last night CVG captured a performance comparison chart that has since been taken down from Konami’s Japanese website for PES 2015 that shows that PES 2015 runs At 1080p on PS4, but only 720p on Xbox One. Notably the PS3 version also runs at 720p, but all versions run at 60fps:
The news that the Xbox One wouldn’t support 1080p had Xbox One fans in an uproar, which likely lead to the chart’s removal. Adam Bhatti, the European product manager for PES had this to say:
The game is powered by Konami’s Fox Engine, which is the same engine being used to power Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. It should really come as no surprise then that PES renders at lower resolutions since the previous Fox Engine game, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, also only rendered at 720p for Xbox One.
However, this is not the first time that a game purported to run at lesser resolutions on Xbox One has been reported and then eventually had their resolutions bumped up by launch, notably Destiny which only achieved 1080p after Microsoft released a new SDK in the wake of criticism.
How do you feel about this latest Xbox One resolution gaff? Let us know in the comments.
