Kingdom Hearts 3D HD Remaster

Director of the Kingdom Hearts franchise Tetsuya Nomura was interviewed for Famitsu magazine recently about Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix, and while the full interview has yet to be released online, several of the talking points regarding Kingdom Hearts III and a potential Kingdom Hearts 3D HD Remaster have already been circulating.

Kingdom Hearts III is supposedly well on track, though they are having some problems with the game engine, but are advancing in the scenario writing and Disney world choices. Though Kingdom Hearts III co-director Tai Yasue had mentioned the world of Frozen as a possibility, it has yet to be confirmed as fact. Designs for Sora’s and Riku’s outfits have also been a priority, as well as designing a number of keyblade transformations.

Nomura also states that among the team there is “serious consideration” into making an HD remake of the 2012 3DS-exclusive Kingdom Hearts 3D. This would make sense, as it is the only game in the insanely popular SquareEnix / Disney mashup series that has yet to have an HD remaster.

Nomura also stated that there are plenty of further plans for the franchise, though Kingdom Hearts III of course remains a priority.
