Metal Gear Solid creator and director Hideo Kojima appeared at Sony’s pre-Tokyo Game Show presentation and announced there will be more news regarding his upcoming open-world stealth title, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, at TGS in 2 weeks’ time.

Rumours have been fuelled over the past few months that The Phantom Pain may see a release date in Q4 of 2014, but no doubt any time frame on when the title will be released is high on the list of information for MGS fans to know.

The director caught the attention of the entire gaming community last month when he launched the “world’s first interactive teaser” at Gamescom in the form of P.T., which was later revealed to be a new Silent Hill title being made by Kojima and Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy, Blade II, etc.), with it featuring The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus.

During the pre-TGS presentation a video message appeared from none other than filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, who explained how he met Kojima a while back when they had dinner.

“Kojima-san is a great storyteller,” Guillermo said. “He achieves a cinematic look, but he achieves real drama.”

Del Toro went on to add how he collaborated with Reedus in his first role on Mimic in 1997, which was a horror film directed by Guillermo and was met with mixed reviews during its initial release.
