Halo: The Master Chief Collection is set to release on November 11th, 2014. Included in The Master Chief Collection are all 4 of the Halo games that the Master Chief is playable in (Halo 1, 2, 3, and 4), with all of their original multiplayer portions. Alongside the original multiplayer, a remastered version of Halo 2’s multiplayer component, with 6 completely remade maps and a modified version of the Halo 2 engine, is also shipped with the game.
Halo 2 multiplayer brought hundreds of new ideas to gaming and the series itself. One of these revolutionary new features was the ability to play as an Elite in multiplayer. This specific addition to the game sent ripples throughout the gaming community, and propelled the series into its early stages of multiplayer customization. With Halo 2: Anniversary multiplayer launching with the Master Chief Collection, it would be a crime against humanity to leave out our alien buddies.
Fortunately, it has been confirmed that players can play as Elites in the 6 remastered Halo 2 maps. Thanks to a tweet from @textosterone we now have an early-build idea of what our Elite counterparts will look like in the new multiplayer.
While this is a huge change from the original Halo 2 Elites, I believe the change is good. In my opinion, they sort of look like a hybrid between the Halo 4 and Halo: Reach Elites, and while not everybody was a fan of these character models, it does show that 343i is continuing its trend in updating the series.
Remember folks: this is an image from an early build of the game, and all is subject to change. Personally, I believe they will stay largely the same, and I’m excited.
