The Ghost Edition of Bungie’s highly anticipated online first-person shooter, Destiny, is in high demand. So high, in fact, that many retailers have cancelled a large number of pre-orders of the Destiny: Ghost Edition due to the overwhelming amount of them.

However, GameStop is implementing a plan to give their customers what they want.

It’s no surprise that both the Ghost and Limited Editions of Destiny are in very short supply, they have been since their announcement. People are even paying over $1,000 just to get their hands on them. Thus, retailers have had to cancel many pre-orders because of over-selling.

Destiny releases next week, on September 9th, and shipping notifications are already being sent out to gamers who pre-ordered the game, so it’s a bit odd that many game retailers don’t have a competent grasp on their Destiny stock.

Yet, GameStop has a plan to appease customers of theirs who are being affected by the Destiny: Ghost Edition cancellations, specifically for those who pre-ordered it for the PlayStation 4.

Anybody whose Playstation 4 Destiny: Ghost Edition pre-order was cancelled will receive a standard edition of Destiny, along with the PlayStation 3 version of the game’s Ghost Edition, so they will receive all the extra digital content, Golden Age relics, and bonus items that come with it.

If the customer so chooses, he or she may keep, give away, or trade-in the extra PlayStation 3 version of Destiny. Not going to lie, that’s some pretty solid customer service.

Reddit user, betrion, posted a screen capture of a received GameStop email regarding the situation, you can view it below:

At the time of this writing, no other game retailers have implemented a similar system. This article will be updated with the appropriate information if, or when, relevant news surfaces.

What are your thoughts on GameStop’s solution for Destiny‘s Ghost Edition? Do you think it’s a good plan, or is it not good enough?
