Shulk announced for Smash Bros.

by GH Staff

Shulk from the popular Xenoblade Chronicles will be joining Super Smash Bros.! In classic Sakurai style, a trailer announcing the new character was revealed along with today’s “pic of the day”! Watch Shulk in action below:

In his pic of the day Sakurai added: «From Xenoblade Chronicles, Shulk joins the battle!! He’s not the type of character that would usually appear in the Smash Bros. series, but we worked really hard to make it happen. We’re very happy with how he turned out. This stage is Gaur Plain. »

The trailer shows off a variety of sword style moves. The move I personally found to be most interesting was the counter-like move Shulk used on Marth at around 1:30 in the video.

With the release date of the 3DS version in Japan rapidly approaching we can expect a busy few weeks of announcements. This includes the awesome music feature also announced last week.

Shulk’s announcement does not catch anyone by surprise and does follow the (rumored) leaked roster from last week. Following the potential leak, it will be interesting to see how and when the rest of the new returning and new fighters will be announced.

Super Smash Bros. will be releasing on Nintendo 3DS in Japan on September 13 and in North America in October 3rd. The Wii U version is slated for a world wide release in the 4th quarter of 2014.

What do you think of Shulk’s announcement and trailer? Are you excited to play as him? Are there any other returning fights or new ones that you are hoping for? Do you think the rumored leak was legitimate or just a great fake? Let me know in the comments or follow me on Twitter!
