Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare tips

While Xbox and Windows players have likely already mastered (or abandoned) Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, the game is brand-spankin’ new for PlayStation fans. Here are some Garden Warfare tips for those new to the game who want to pwn from day one.

Save Your Coins: Buying packs is tempting, especially when you first start playing. But resist! In general, you want to wait to buy the 20,000 coin packs or even 40,000 coin Spectacular Character Pack. These packs bring more cards and more chances for the rare cards and variant unit stickers. The 5,000 pack may be easy to purchase, but it’s also not going to offer you Rares.

Load Up on Reinforcements: While we just told you that you need to save coin for expensive packs, the truth is that the 1,000 coin Reinforcements Pack is also invaluable. You get points and coins for every plant or zombie your reinforcements kill, and so a well-used pack can pay for itself twice over. This is especially true if you are trying to level plants in Garden Ops, where spawned plants can sometimes make the difference between winning and losing a wave.

Play Garden Ops: While the temptation may be to dice straight into an intense game of Gardens and Graveyards multiplayer, there’s value in the AI-enemy Ops mode. It allows you to level up your Plants in a much less intense combat environment, especially if you’re new to the game.

Complete Achievements: When you first play each plant and zombie type, you will have some simple achievements to complete to unlock the three basic attacks — kill three Zombies, or use an ability five times, etc. Once you unlock them, however, there are still levels to gain and advantages to win by gaining them. The achievements are harder, but don’t ignore them. Sometimes it’s worth dying in the current match to gain achievements for long term success.

Don’t Wander Off Alone: A lone unit is a dead unit. Simple enough, right? So try to stay with a group when possible. This is usually easier for the Plants, who often defend, but Zombies also function better in packs.
