Mortal Kombat X

Kano, one of the original characters from the first Mortal Kombat in 1992, has been confirmed as the latest kombatant in NetherRealm Studios’ Mortal Kombat X.

Ed Boon, creative director on Mortal Kombat X, announced Kano’s return to the franchise in a gameplay trailer for the character, where he faces one of the newest kombatants, D’Vorah, in a head-to-head fight.

Mortal Kombat X is set to feature the introduction of ‘character variations,’ which allows players to select a specific play style for a character before entering a fight. Ed Boon, of course, revealed the three variations which Kano has, with each of them being deadly for the player to utilise.

First up is the ‘Cutthroat’ variation, allowing Kano to power up his attacks and enhance the ability of his trademark knives; Kano’s second variation, ‘Cybernetic,’ increases the mercenary’s long-range attacks through the use of his laser eye and grenades; finally, ‘Commando’ variation turns Kano into a full-on brawler, where he has the ability to counter both high and low attacks.

Following on from a successful reboot of the franchise with Mortal Kombat 9 in 2011, NetherRealm Studios’ latest title will be running at a consistent 1080p and 60fps.

Mortal Kombat X is scheduled for release in 2015 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
