Little Sisters

Although PlayStation Vita owners from North America and Europe just purchased the first revamped game, the gaming publisher, Idea Factory, has announced that HyperDimension Neptunia Re;Birth 2: Sisters Generation will launch early next year. Unlike the predecessor that features an optimistic goddess named Neptune, this brand new chapter will focus on the former protagonist’s sister; named Nepgear, this goddess candidate resembles Neptune with the purplish hair, but this sibling has a total different personality, which will correlate to the darker challenges set in this second project to this revamp franchise.

Purple Heart in Captivity

Taken directly from the website, here’s the story:

Gamindustri faces a dire crisis. Shops are boarded up, creators are overworked and starving, and death looms over all Gamindustrimen. But the CPUs refuse to let this be game over for their world! Gamidustri had severed its ties to the chaotic Lawless Realm long ago, and yet. Ever since the advent of ASIC–the Arfoire Syndicate of International Crime–morality has all but vanished. As much as 80 percent of all students are rumored to worship a being known as Arfoire. Parents, despite knowing it to be a poor deity to worship, have gone ahead and allowed their children to do so. Even the governing bodies of the world have turned a blind eye to it, rather than crush the crisis in its infancy. Basically, Gamindustri was pretty messed up. Thus did Gamindustri fall into complete and utter  disarray. Those who tire of living in this corrupt world are sent to wander the Gamindustri Graveyard, forever lost.

Other CPUs in Captivity

At the game’s beginning, Purple Heart (Neptune’s HDD form) and the other CPUs are being held as captives in the Gameindustri Graveyard after losing to ASIC. To save them from destruction, the little sisters (Nepgear, Uni, Ram, and Rom) gather together to form a four-member rescue party. To aid these girls on their mission, fans will also see familiar cast members (IF, Compa, Historia, etc.) return as well. While exploring several dungeons with these four girls in a third-person perspective, players will also experience some new changes.

Though the evolved battle system hasn’t changed much, there will be no loading times!  Outside the combat mode, these characters can easily jump over ledges. Additionally, the cruiser key over the world map screen can now move or roam freely over various destinations, improving the map’s exploration performance.

Here are some other implemented features:

  • Burn idea chips onto blank discs to create custom equipment and special abilities.
  • Using the remake system will create a gaming experience fit for the player’s preferences.
  • The Japanese opening song will feature “Kirihirake Role-Play Star” by nao.
  • The Japanese ending song will be “never GIVE up” by Ayane.

Another good reason to purchase this innovative project is the fact that it will be sold in retail stores as physical copies for the PS Vita! Although this writer’s checkbook is almost broke, this second package feels like another must-have item, especially after finishing the predecessor during the holiday season. What are readers’ thoughts on this upcoming masterpiece? Will this darker atmosphere captivate fans or turn them away?
