Destiny is one week away and it was time to bundle the excitement with a challenge to the Destiny community. On 29 Aug 14 a poll was posted on Bungie.net for the fans to settle their overall excitement and make a decision. Destiny fans finally had to come to terms with one simple question; what portion of Destiny most excites you? Votes have been tallied and with over 900 votes, we have the top 7 reasons you’re excited for Destiny! Wait….why 7? Why not top 5 or top 10?
[Insert black and white flashback] Approximately 7 years ago, in a gaming community far away, was the release of Halo: 3. This was the conclusion in the Bungie portion on the main series (Excluding spin-off’s). This ushered in the beginning of Bungie opening new doors and exploring another destiny <pun intended>. [Flashback complete!]
In addition, this seven letter title has surprised the gaming community with an interesting hybrid MMO/FPS. Now ladies and gentlemen, in tribute to Destiny we’re going break out of the norms and make our own boundaries with our (the communities’) 7 reasons of excitement!!!
#7 The Iron Banner: The Iron Banner presents you, the Guardian, with a unique competitive challenge in PvP. Come 9/9/14, be sure to have the best warrior possible, because the Iron Banner is a battlefield only for the bravest and strongest. As reported and seen during the Beta, this feature has a lot of promise with all the Gucci gear and unlockable items. Bunge’s Assistant Community Manager, DeeJ (David Dague) informed the public in a recent interview that the Iron Banner will open randomly, but at longer durations during the final game.
#6 The Crucible: Different from the Iron Banner (ability and weapon equalizer), the crucible is exciting in its own right. We know the game from day one will contain the modes; Control, Clash, Rumble, Combined Arms, Skirmish and Salvage. Each mode has its own spin on PvP and has been rumored to have extra surprises for gamers to discover. It will be interesting to see if Guardians will unlock this portion of the game at level 5, as experienced in the Beta.
#5 Strike Missions: Cooperative missions at their best! Most had the chance to experience the ‘Devil’s Lair’ on the Beta. Multiple Strike missions will be accessible at the launch for the available areas and additional Strikes have been confirmed for the expansions. To ensure victory, your three man team must work to the objective. This can be further emphasized by Deej who was quoted previously “…Strikes add such an extra level of complexity [to Destiny].” Guardians, do not take these missions for granted!
