Firewatch will be making its official debut at PAX Prime this year on Saturday, August 30 at 10:30am. There will be a live gameplay demonstration, a Q&A with the developers behind the game, and the debut of a new trailer.
The whole event will be streamed live on Twitch for anybody unable to make it to PAX.
While Firewatch is the first game from the independent studio Campo Santo, it has become a hotly-anticipated title just based on the pedigree of the team behind it.
The team currently working at Campo Santo consists of Jake Rodkin and Sean Vanaman, both of whom worked at Telltale on the first season of The Walking Dead, Nels Anderson, who was the lead designer on Klei’s Mark of the Ninja, Jan Ng, who did the environment and lighting for Double Fine’s The Cave and Brutal Legend, Chris Remo, who did the music for Gone Home and co-wrote Double Fine’s The Cave, and Olly Moss, who’s probably best known for his incredible poster art for classic and modern movies.
Firewatch is a first-person mystery game set in the Wyoming wilderness. You play as a fire lookout who’s only connection to the outside world is through Delilah, your supervisor, who you communicate with through a handheld radio. Not much else is known about the game yet so hopefully the PAX demonstration will give us more to chew on.
Firewatch will be coming to PC, Mac, and Linux, with console versions to possibly follow. It’s planned fora release sometime in 2015.
