After giving away The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection on Origin for free, Electronic Arts has now updated The Sims 4. This time they’ve revealed what your computer’s going to need to run The Sims 4 properly.
With a decent internet connection, an Origin Account for activation of The Sims 4, keyboard, and mouse as basic requirements, here are the minimum requirements your PC/Mac will need:
- OS: Windows XP (SP3), Windows Vista (SP2), Windows 7 (SP1), Windows 8, or Windows 8.1
- PROCESSOR: 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, AMD Athlon 64 Dual-Core 4000+ or equivalent (For computers using built-in graphics chipsets, the game requires 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.0 GHz AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-62 or equivalent)
- MEMORY: At least 2 GB RAM
- HARD DRIVE: At least 9 GB of free space with at least 1 GB additional space for custom content and saved games
- DVD-ROM: DVD ROM drive required for installation only
- VIDEO CARD: 128 MB of Video RAM and support for Pixel Shader 3.0. Supported Video Cards: NVIDIA GeForce 6600 or better, ATI Radeon X1300 or better, Intel GMA X4500 or better
- SOUND CARD: DirectX 9.0c Compatible
- DIRECTX: DirectX 9.0c compatible
These specifications encompass a wide variety of computer systems that could play the game. The graphics are generally low in computer gaming standards, but The Sims 4 wasn’t ever about graphics. It was about the game play that it boasts. This means most modern laptops will be able to run the game with ease and last a couple years after that. As we know, a laptop’s life isn’t very long, but with any moder desktop computer, running The Sims 4 should be a piece of cake for a very long time.
EA also has plans for making a Sims 4 Premium service that will allow players to pay for DLC packs and exclusive content. Full details are not released yet, but in the recent teaser trailer, we only got a glimpse of what was to come. The Sims 4 is expecting a release date for PC and Mac on September 2nd of this year.
