To celebrate the Stockholm Pride Festival this year, Swedish retailer WebHallen have come up with an interesting way to promote LGBTQ rights, it appears. They are currently auctioning off a unique PS4, dubbed the “GayStation Edition” – it sports all the colors of the rainbow and a huge 8-bit heart piece on the surface.
That’s about all the differences you can expect when compared to a standard PS4. It is the 500GB unit, along with 4 games which aren’t mentioned on the listing, and finally the usual items such as a HDMI cable, mono headset, dualshock 4 wireless controller, and USB charging cable are to be included. As of now, the highest bid stands at 18,900 SEK (or Swedish Krona), which would be $2,740 in USD. The auction will end August 3, so if you’re interested, make sure to check it out here.
So why do WebHallen believe the PS4 can help the LGBTQ community? They explain:
“To a lot of youths, gaming is a helping hand to escape from abuse or worse in the real world. We at Webhallen are gamers in our hearts and souls, wanting everyone to be apart of the worlds fastest growing hobby, computer and video games.”
Whatever the final price ends up being, all proceedings are heading to RFSL, an LGBTQ-rights organisation, who are there to help the community in any way possible.
