Oculus VR picks up another big name to back behind its project and it’s Plants vs. Zombies 2 producer Bernard Yee. Yee is the senior producer of PopCap games with games released such as the Plants vs. Zombies franchise, Bejeweled, and Bookworm. Oculus VR is the virtual reality headset that was bought by Facebook for 2 billion dollars in March.

“I was really blown away by the level of emotional reaction I had to the demo,” he said in an exclusive interview with GamesBeat. “The virtual reality technology was immersive and made you feel present in a way that games have never done.”
Yee compared the current situation of Oculus to the rise of MMO’s a decade ago, saying “it’s hard to say no” to the opportunity that’s been presented. He only wants to “contribute” in any possible way to make a fantastic new product. He’ll always keep in mind his accomplishments with PopCap Games, saying Plants Vs. Zombies 2 was “one of the best things [he’s] ever worked on” and that he’s going to miss the superb amounts of passion and drive that the PopCap Games studio has.
It seems Virtual Reality is back in demand, after it had failed in 1995 with the Virtual Boy by Nintendo, producing dismal results. With the new graphic capabilities on the PC as well as newer technology on the market, it’s safe to say that the Oculus Rift from Oculus VR is looking to be something magical.
