Minecraft is one of the few addictive games available on different platforms. Originally, it was only available on PC. Later on, it was released on different other platforms including Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and 4 and mobile devices running iOS, android and virtually any Java powered device. This gave birth to Minecraft Pocket Edition, a smaller version of the original Minecraft game that was designed to be playable on mobile devices.
Although Minecraft Pocket Edition was meant to give gamers that same experience as the PC version, it is still not the replica of the PC version. A number of things are either missing or different from what you get in the PC version one. Below are some of these notable differences.
Multiplayer
One of the key shortcomings of the Pocket Edition is difficulty in using multiplayer capabilities. This is, in fact, a huge setback given that the game is more fun when played with others, and yet Pocket Edition makes it very hard for a player to connect to online worlds. Furthermore, you have to use a third-party app to help you setup the server connection.
Mods
Mods help players create new worlds and scenarios. Unfortunately, the Minecraft app does not support the use of these modifications. Other than just mods, it is also a little difficult to change the player’s skin in this same edition.
Mobs and Items
There are very many items and mobs that are found in the PC version, but were omitted in the mobile one. There are few bad guys to fight against and no villagers or even pets that you can tame in the Pocket Edition.
The Latest Minecraft Pocket Edition
For the lovers of this game who missed the infinite worlds in previous mobile version, the latest version finally avails them. In this version, new flowers and a few other mobs have been included although it also still has a number of bug issues such the random crashes and players being unable to see each other if they walk too far away from one another in multiplayer mode.
Verdict
Comparing the Minecraft app and PC version is almost unfair since there is still no competition despite the latest update that tries to bring the app as close as possible to the PC version. The app still is still a long way from the PC version although its importance cannot be overlooked especially to those who want to enjoy the game on the move.
