Homefront: The Revolution Gets Ridiculous Xbox One Release Date

by GH Staff
Please note: This article is written in jest with full knowledge of what placeholder dates are. I also extend my deepest condolences to all those affected by financial difficulties at Crytek and its affiliated studios.

Revealed shortly before E3, Deep Silver and Crytek UK surprised fans with their vision for a sequel to the moderately well received Homefront. However, those eagerly awaiting the Homefront: The Revolution may have to wait a little longer – 785 years, to be precise.

Publisher Deep Silver are yet to announce an official release date other than ‘2015’ at this stage, and as such, the Xbox and PSN store both have the date listed as TBC, if at all. However, according to our incredibly reputable source – AKA the Xbox One Smartglass app – Homefront: The Revolution is slated for release on December 31st, 2799.

Homefront: The Revolution release date

Yes, it really does take that long to create perfection

Initially acquiring the Homefront series in June 2013, during THQ’s bankruptcy auction, Crytek has been on a downhill slide in the year since. Not only have they lost some 30 staff since starting work on Homefront: The Revolution, but game director Hasit Zala also left the studio earlier this month. This comes amid a series of financial difficulties, including unpaid staff, as Crytek denies that they’re under any sort of pressure – in spite of the studio dropping the planned Ryse sequel.

We understand you’re facing difficult times, Crytek, but I think 785 years is a bit too long to wait for Homefront: The Revolution. Not only will fans who were around for the initial reveal not exist anymore; you also run the risk of distorting the original vision over centuries of development time.

One thing’s for sure – with such a long development time, Homefront: The Revolution is, without a doubt, going to be the most astoundingly perfect game in existence when it releases. I just wouldn’t keep my hopes up for many people to still own an Xbox One by then.
