Valiant Hearts: The Great War Will Include Real War Footage
Sometimes, games about war can be rather accurate — the weapons are realistic, the maps are inspired by real locations, and the battles feel real. Other times, you’re going to war against zombies.
Ubisoft went above and beyond the call of duty (pun intended) to bring us their new war-themed game Valiant Hearts: The Great War. In order to get as realistic a feel as possible, they enlisted companies CC&C and Ideacom International to use material from the documentary they created entitled Apocalypse: World War I.
Valiant Hearts, which comes out on June 25th for Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation 4, Playstation 3 and PC, features photos and video footage from the World War I documentary. The video footage plays throughout the game’s story, while the photographs come along with bits of information to teach the gamer about the war they are fighting. There are clips of real soldiers wearing gas masks, and an homage to the dogs that were used in the trenches to comfort dying soldiers. The game’s creators have noted that Valiant Hearts hits close to home, as many of them had family in the first world war. Everyone who created the game was very passionate about their material, which should make for a beautiful game.
