New Xbox One commercial is turning on Microsoft’s console

by GH Staff

A new Xbox One commercial is turning on consoles and leaving some owners annoyed.

In the new ad which features Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad, he says “Xbox On” at the start of the commercial. It’s enough to trigger Xbox Ones to turn on.

From BBC.com:

The instruction appears to trigger the machine’s Kinect voice/motion sensor, activating the console.

A spokesman for the firm said it had no comment at this time, but noted that previous ads had also featured voice commands.

Despite other commercials having voice commands, apparently Paul’s voice hits the sensor just right to create problems.

Here are some examples of Xbox One owners that are getting their consoles turned on by the power of Aaron Paul and complaining on Twitter.

It just adds to the fire of gamer’s general uninterest in Kinect. While 2.0 is better than its predecessor released on the Xbox 360, there’s still enough quirks that tend to leave people just turning off the Kinect sensor altogether.

Microsoft is now selling their new console without the Kinect, allowing the retail price to drop at a similar $399.
