Grand Theft Auto has never moved away from the third person perspective, but a modder on Xbox 360 has turned the game first-person, offering a weird effect for anyone who has played previous GTA titles.
XBLToothPik showed off two new videos of the mod and has previously modded a lot of Grand Theft Auto V. The mod is not perfect, with the player’s face popping in and out of the frame, but it is still impressive work.
Offering this type of first person perspective reminds us of Far Cry 3 and Mirrors Edge. The driving definitely looks like Far Cry, even if the controls for driving in GTA 5 are more tight and easy to handle than Far Cry.
Shooting looks like CS: GO, not to discredit the title but the design of hands and guns on Counter Strike have never been the strongpoint. It does give more control and accuracy to the player, although GTA 5 has never been about accuracy while shooting.
The second video shows the first-person mod in cars, planes and boats. The inside of the vehicles are pretty ugly, obviously Rockstar didn’t bother with the textures and design of the insides since nobody would be looking inside the car.
Grand Theft Auto V has already experienced a ton of mods before release on current generation platforms and PC. Once it hits PC we expect the modding community to go wild and offer a lot of changes to the vanilla game.
Rockstar have the game set for fall release on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
