Former Irrational Games Developers Bring New Game To Kickstarter

by GH Staff
Some of the former Irrational Games developers have come together to create Day for Night Games, whose first title will be coming to Kickstarter very soon.

Earlier this year, Ken Levine announced that the Irrational Games studio as we knew it would be dissolved in favor of a much smaller development team. According to the former head of the company behind the System Shock and BioShock franchises, only 15 members would remain after the closure, in order to work with Levine on smaller projects. While many of the developers have been acquired by other studios, some of Irrational’s talented members have come together to create Day for Night Games, whose first game will be featured in a Kickstarter campaign.

A new interview between Irrational Games Writer Joe Fielder and Polygon reveals what the new studio Day for Night Games has planned for their future. After the closure of Irrational Games, several of the remaining developers shared the same interest in creating a narrative-driven game. From this pool of talent and shared ideas came Day for Night Games, which is currently working on its first title. According to the BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea writer, Fielder states that their new project- The Black Glove- will launch on Kickstarter sometime next month. The planned title is a first-person experience, where the player must help an artist, musician, and a filmmaker in the present, by changing aspects of their work in the past. Whether it’s the past, present or future, all events take place within “The Equinox”, the theater at which The Black Glove is set.

While story events and the overall narration may change due to the player’s actions, Fielder states that “the goal is to satisfy the whims of the creator, the critic and the crowd”. Along with Joe Fielder, writer of the Burial at Sea DLC episodes, Day for Night Games also features the talents of former Irrational Games Artist Robb Waters, and Senior Environment Artist Chad King. While details are scarce regarding The Black Glove, Day for Night Games will be revealing more information about the title and their upcoming Kickstarter campaign through their official Twitter account.
