Dreadnought Revealed

by GH Staff

Yager, developers of Spec Ops: The Line, has released a teaser trailer (see below), effectively revealing their new title; Dreadnought – a free to play action game in which players control gigantic battleships in an attempt to win over the opponent. The ships must be well maintained through managing the crew members, gear, subsystems, and so forth, leaving room for tactical thought.

The main theme and gameplay style is centered on space battles as both Yager and the game’s publisher; Grey Box, both have a shared enthusiasm for the concept. Unreal Engine 4 is being used to create the game, promising impressive graphics and gameplay that flows very well.

Tony Medrano of Grey Box said “We all have that dream of sitting in the Captain’s Chair” in a press release, going on to discuss the fantasies of being able to fulfill that position, as follows:

It’s an awesome feeling to control something so huge and powerful, and that feeling is present in Dreadnought. Our goal is to nurture that feeling at all costs by working with players to fulfill the creation of their dream armada.

In the teaser, we see a squadron of futuristic battleships as they prepare to launch missiles on a target, however a more sinister and much larger battleship quickly appears behind them, which soon completely annihilates the smaller ships. Not much else is shown, aside for the fact it’s coming in 2015, with public testing starting early in the same year. There is currently no mention of which platforms Dreadnought will be available for.
