Bayonetta 2 Releases This Fall, Includes Original Game

by GH Staff
Bayonetta 2 will come bundled with the original game, available this October for the Nintendo Wii U. A new trailer was revealed, showcasing more gameplay.

Scalebound was revealed yesterday as Platinum’s upcoming Xbox One-exclusive title. While no actual gameplay was shown in the brief trailer, Scalebound appears to offer large-scale, massive encounters with towering creatures. Of course, Platinum is known to have screen-filling enemies and bosses in their games; such examples can be seen in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, with Metal Gear Ray and Metal Gear Excelsus. However, some of Platinum’s best can be found among the angelic forces within Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2, both of which are coming to Wii U later this year.

Bayonetta 2 was revealed to a worldwide audience via Nintendo’s 2013 E3-themed Nintendo Direct. The reveal trailer showcases the bombastic, fast-paced action that Bayonetta and Platinum Games fans have come to love. The gameplay footage includes fighting angels on top of a jet as it weaves through a city, a sort of “tag team” dual combo feature with Jeanne, and aerial combat with a massive dragon as it crashes through skyscrapers. During this morning’s Nintendo E3 2014 digital presentation, new gameplay footage for Bayonetta 2 was shown. The new trailer includes footage of the title’s depiction of Hell and the search for Jeanne, along with some of the insanely large bosses that players will encounter.

Along with Bayonetta 2, the original Bayonetta will release for the Wii U. Both games will come packaged together in one bundle; the original game will include brand new unlockable costumes, each with a Nintendo-theme. Shown costumes are based off of Princess Peach/Toadstool, Link, and Samus Aran. The original Bayonetta released in 2009 for both the Xbox 360 and PS3. Bayonetta 2 is the 4th Nintendo-exclusive title from Platinum Games, following The Wonderful 101 for the Wii U, Infinite Space on Nintendo DS, and MadWorld for the Nintendo Wii.

Bayonetta 2 was originally scheduled for a Summer release in Japan; the title has been confirmed for October 2014 in North America.
