Rumors about the iPhone 6 emerge

by GH Staff

More and more leaks appear online as the release date of the anticipated iPhone 6 is drawing near. Apple is going all-in with this one, making up for a slower 2014, a year in which the iPhone 5S has been struggling to keep up with some amazing Android releases. The iPhone 6 thus has to deliver, and by all accounts, it will.

The main interest of users and potential iPhone buyers is what kind of a display will the iPhone 6 sport. It has been confirmed that it will be the biggest display among apple phones to date, and at this point, we’re sure to see a 4.7 inch Retina display in the iPhone 6. The new Retina panel won’t have impressive numbers, mind you, running at 1334 x 750 pixels, an odd resolution that will bump up viewing quality by providing 326 pixels per inch in density. While on paper this looks weak, Apple still makes some of the best quality displays in the world, so don’t be put off by the seemingly small numbers.

Hardware-wise, the iPhone 6 will feature Apple’s new A8 processor, while surprisingly coming with just 1 GB of internal RAM. This is a small number compared to the ever growing RAM capacity of phones, especially evident in the upcoming LG G3 which is said to have 4 GB of RAM under its hood. Despite this, apps made for Apple phones are known to be perfectly optimized, and the iPhones were never known for their impressive on-paper stats. Still, they run flawlessly, and the iPhone 6 will make no exceptions. The lucky few that have had some insight with the iPhone 6 report that despite the seemingly weaker hardware, the phone actually performs extremely well and is a pleasure to use. This is most likely due to the really strong new technology in the A8 processor, which despite having mediocre clock-speeds pulls off remarkable performances.

To not cause uncomfortable use because of the increased screen-size, Apple is rumored to be reducing the bezel of the iPhone 6 by up to 20%, which basically means there will not be a great increase in the phone’s actual size. Additionally, the reduced bezel will surely provide a better visual appeal to the iPhone 6, at least when compared to its predecessor, the iPhone 5. Also linked to design is a certain increase in the phone’s battery, the iPhone 6 featuring a 50-70% larger battery than the previous model, the iPhone 5S, boosting battery life significantly. Mediocre battery life was always one of the main downsides of Apple phones, and there are solid indications that the iPhone 6 will be a huge improvement in this department.

The higher-end versions of the iPhone 6 will have 64GB of internal storage, with a 128 GB model likely to make an appearance too. These phones will obviously cost more, and it’s possible we’ll be seeing Saphire Crystals on the display instead of the traditional Gorilla Glass. This also raises the question of pricing, which definitely won’t be on the lower-end of things. It’s expected that the iPhone 6 will cost around $800 carrier-free, but obvious discrepancies between retailers will also make a difference.

Do you see the iPhone 6 as becoming a successful model and refreshing competition among the world’s leading phone manufacturers?
