Developer Naughty Dog is bringing The Last of Us to PS4 this summer and Uncharted 4 has also been announced to be in development for the PS4, but the developer isn’t stopping there. Creative Director Neil Druckmann revealed that Naughty Dog is working on 2 “brand new experiences” along with The Last of Us re-release. We can either assume that one of these experiences is Uncharted 4, in which case the second experience remains unknown. Otherwise, we can expect 2 completely new titles to release sometime in the near future for PS4 or other Sony platforms.
Speaking to EDGE, Druckmann explains what the Naughty Dog team is up to:
“I think if there was nothing but remakes [on PS4], that would be pretty sad for the console. Just like any system out there, any medium, it’s going to be a mixture. We’re working on this re-release, but at the same time we’re working on two other brand-new experiences.
When Blu-ray came out, the first thing is you buy all these rereleases of movies that you’ve loved, and then you see Gravity and you can’t wait to see it on your Blu-ray. There’s always room for a mixture of old and new.”
Essentially, this statement means that they are trying to bring all new, unique experiences to the PS4 along with The Last of Us remake. Druckmann’s statement neither confirms nor denies whether these either of these experiences are the new Uncharted game or a Last of Us sequel.
