Transistor Release Date Set for May on PC and PS4

by GH Staff

Transistor, the next game from the creators of Xbox Live Arcade and PC indie darling Bastion, will hit the PlayStation 4 and PC on May 20th, according to Supergiant Games.

The developer’s website says the Action RPG, which is set in a futuristic city and features beautiful visuals, will also be playable at the Penny Arcade Expo in Boston this week.

Sony is touting Transistor on its blog, and has been since they first officially announced the PlayStation 4. It’s seen as a major coup for the PS4, since Bastion was quite popular on the Xbox 360 and Steam, selling a combined two million copies and receiving critical acclaim. It seems Transistor will be console-exclusive to the PS4, as Supergiant says Linux and Mac versions are also coming down the road, but there are still no announced plans for an Xbox One version. Supergiant states that say they chose the PS4 over other consoles because of how helpful Sony has been, which is a sentiment heard from other indie devs as well.

Transistor will cost $19.99 in North America, and €18.99 / £14.99 in Europe. There’s no word yet on if it’ll be offered as a free PlayStation Plus game, although indie titles like Outlast, Mercenary Kings, and Dead Nation have been upon their PS4 launches.
