Leak: Disney Infinity 2.0 will Feature The Avengers, Coming in August
Disney announced recently that superheroes would be joining the toy/game hybrid Disney Infinity with a trailer that at the very least confirmed Captain America, as well as most likely the Avengers with the use of the word “assemble.”
You may have noticed the “2.0” in the top right corner of the video… most assumed that meant an update to the game, but a new leak from Disney’s own website reveals that it’ll be a sequel instead. The post, which has since been pulled (see a cached version here) confirms that Marvel Comics characters will be a part of the new game, which will apparently be released in August.
Whether that means Disney Infinity will include the X-Men and Spider-Man, or just those characters that have appeared under Marvel’s “Cinematic Universe” umbrella in the Avengers tie-ins remains to be seen, but it sure implies that we’ll have more than just Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, Thor and Black Widow to play around with.
Disney Infinity launched last year on the Nintendo Wii and Wii U, Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft’s Xbox 360, with a “toy box” version (just including the Toy Box mode and not the rest of the game) appearing on PC as well. There’s no word yet on whether Disney Infinity 2.0 will hit the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, but one would assume so.
