Dreamhack Bucharest will be host to some of the best eSports players in the world

by GH Staff

ESports are evolving into a global phenomenon that seems to have no bounds. Most competitive game festivals and events take place in Asia and the United States, but Europe has been developing an impressive eSports world of its own. DreamHack Bucharest makes no exception, and despite being a relatively new annual event, it’s becoming increasingly popular. Last year’s DreamHack Bucharest proved to be successful, and helped propel the event to new heights this year, thanks to the great organizational skills of the Computer Games team. This year’s DreamHack Bucharest is just one of many DreamHack events taking place all across Europe, and will see major industry names present, from Valve to Blizzard and Riot Games.

Because DreamHack is focused on eSports, competitive play, streaming and tournaments, many world-renowned players will take part in various events at this year’s Dreamhack Bucharest, which takes place between the 26th and 27th of April. If you’re a fan of eSports, many of these names will sound all too familiar. Here are some of the best players in the world to be present:

[promo title=”Lee ‘Jaedong’ Jae Dong”][/promo]

Jaedong is a 24 year old Korean with an impressive track-record. Starting off his professional career with Starcraft: Brood War in 2006, Jaedong made his way to become one of the best Starcraft 2 players in the world, amassing prizes totaling over $500,000. He’s currently the top earning gaming professional in the world.

MC is also a Korean Starcraft 2 player with a hefty resume, with two Global Starcraft 2 League wins under his belt. The 22 year old isn’t new to DreamHack, as he had won the DreamHack Stockholm Invitational back in 2011 too. MC has amassed winnings of over $450,000 so far.

[promo title=”Danil ‘Dendi’ Ishutin“][/promo]

Dendi doesn’t really need an introduction to Dota 2 fans. One of the most popular and talented players in the world, the 24 year old Ukrainian is a respected member of the Natus Vincere Dota 2 team, with which he managed to become world champion multiple times.

[promo title=”Oleksandr ‘XBOCT’ Dashkevych“][/promo]

XBOCT certainly has a hard-to-pronounce name, but that doesn’t stop the Ukrainian from kicking some serious butt in Dota 2. Also a member of Natus Vincere, XBOCT plays one heck of a carry, and his earnings of $437,000 are just slightly lower than Dendi’s $440,000.

Na’Vi seems to be the recurring name here, and we’re starting to form a pattern. The captain of the Dota 2 team, Puppey is on-par with his team members, amassing multiple titles and winning over $436,000 in eSports tournaments.

Alliance is also present at DreamHack Bucharest this year, through Loda, a talented Dota 2 player that helped Alliance take first place at the 3rd edition of The International. He’s also a heavy earner, gathering an impressive $345,000 from tournaments.

[promo title=”Joakim ‘Akke’ Akterhall“][/promo]

Akke is also part of Alliance’s Dota 2 team, with a solid background in eSports that helped the Swedish player gather up $339,000 in prizes from tournaments throughout his career. His team-mates and co-nationals Gustav “s4” Magnusson and Henrik “AdmiralBulldog” Ahnberg aren’t far behind either, with $334,000 in earnings each. The three Swedes will also be present at DreamHack this year.

These aren’t the only major players to take part in the event organized in Bucharest however. Many other major teams will be attending, with Fnatic, Alliance, Na’Vi and Cloud9 being present in full force. Starcraft 2 players placed among the firs 4 positions will be qualified for DreamHack Winter this year, one of the biggest eSports events in the world. If you want to take part in the action, you can either tune in to watch streams from your favorite teams and games, or you can hop on down for two days of guaranteed fun. Make sure to pick up your tickets in time though, as they are selling like there’s no tomorrow.
