Will we get The Division this year?
While demo’s for Ubisoft’s upcoming multiplayer shooter wowed at last year’s E3 event, little details have been released since. Ubisoft has said that The Division will be released towards the end of this year, but lots of things have changed in time. Its other high profile titles Watch Dogs and The Crew, which were set to release last year and early this year respectively, have both been delayed. So does it really seem like a stretch that The Division will be delayed also?
According to an insider, its almost certain that The Division will be pushed to 2015, saying that “The fact that Ubisoft has gone public with a 2014 release date feels laughable to be perfectly honest, we will never be able to release The Division this year. It’s a large project, and we have very far to go.”
News like this is extremely disappointing, as the video game delays seem to be piling up lately. Watch Dogs and Witcher 3, both highly profiled next-gen games were both delayed. Watch Dogs will be available in May while RPG fans will have to wait until l next year to get their Witcher fix.
The Division looks like a spectacular next gen shooter that really shows off the graphical power of the next gen consoles. The game is powered by a brand new engine named Snowdrop, and the results are gorgeous. Also with the recent release and success of another multiplayer shooter, Titanfall, which was exclusive to Xbox, PS4 owners are certainly begging for a fun multiplayer shooter of their own.
While no delay is official, it is not exactly looking good for The Division. What do you think, will we see the game in 2014? How important is a game of this caliber to be added to a lacking next-gen console library? Leave your opinions in the comments section below!
