Microsoft and Respawn Revealing “The Future” of Titanfall This Monday?

by GH Staff

Microsoft director Larry ‘Major Nelson Hryb’s latest podcast has hinted that “the future of Titanfall” will be announced at the Austin Titanfall launch event on Monday. Titanfall is a hugely anticipated Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC first-person shooter releasing next week. Speaking about the event, which is a significant moment for the Xbox One, Xbox social media director Jeff Rubenstein said “apparently during this live stream, which will start at 11pm eastern/8pm pacific, we are going to be exploring or showcasing the future of Titanfall”.

It sounds vague, and Major Nelson admits his team have no idea what developer Respawn Entertainment has up its sleeves. Titanfall is a flagship game for Microsoft and has proven popular with Xbox gamers after a successful beta period. Pre-release leaks have only served to increase anticipation after revealing a side to the mech-shooter that was largely kept secret – the inclusion of massive monsters.

Rubenstein later posted about the Austin Event reveal on Twitter, hinting at “an amazing collaboration”.

“Collaboration” wouldn’t really fit an announcement on the expected DLC that will follow Titanfall’s launch. So what could it be? Respawn Entertainment’s Vince Zampella also appears clueless on the announcement, turning this into something of a mystery. First, he posted:

This was then followed up by another tweet saying it might not be all that significant:

So from “the future” of Titanfall to “something fun”. Does anybody know what’s actually happening? You’d expect Zampella to be in the loop on all things Titanfall, so to see him appear clueless and have to chase answers himself over such an announcement is strange. The Austin Titanfall launch on Monday, March 10th will be streamed live at www.twitch.tv/xbox starting 10pm Central (11pm Eastern, 8pm Pacific).
