Similar to Bluepoint Games’ development of the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall, High Moon Studios could be developing the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of this year’s new Call of Duty title, asnew reports suggest. Job listings by Activision could indicate that High Moon Studios is recruiting for the development of a ‘high profile First-person shooter’ this year for Xbox 360 and PS3, using the Radiant Engine, which is used to make singleplayer and multiplayer maps in Call of Duty games.
High Moon Studios are the developers behind Transformers: War for Cybertron, its sequel, and the recent Deadpool game. It was announced previously that the next Call of Duty title will be developed by Sledgehammer games, the studio that co-developed 2011’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and have since been working on this new title. This puts Call of Duty development schedule on a 3 year cycle, allowing Infinity Ward to release their next title in 2 years from now and Treyarch to release their title next year. The next Call of Duty title will be more next gen focused according to Activision, which might suggest that they would need a separate studio to work on the current gen port, a lot like with Titanfall’s Xbox 360 port. No announcements have been made by Activision or High Moon Studios regarding this and no further information on this year’s Call of Duty have been released either. Hopefully we can expect more news soon.
What do you think of this news? Do you think that separate studios being used to develop ports will become a new trend? Let us know in the comments.
