Regardless of what Rocket’s plans for the future are, the DayZ development team shows no signs of diminishing or shrinking. In fact, it’s growing, a lot! A recent devblog from the DayZ development team revealed that the number of people working on the running simulator has been greatly increased: “We are inducting a large number of new people to the team, effectively doubling the whole project. Here are a few screenshots, and a short rundown on some of the key activity for the week.”
What can players expect to see in March? Well, more updates, obviously, most of which will be focusing on the survival aspects of DayZ. Cooking will be made into a complex system, and previously useless items (like the portable gas stove) will finally find a role to play. The developers have drawn inspiration heavily from Project Zomboid, which isn’t a bad thing. If anything, DayZ has the potential to include all the great elements from individual zombie games and mixing them together into one impressive game.
Besides crafting, new animations will be seeing the light of day, with the DayZ development team allocating separate resources into motion capture and animation improvement. Of course, there’s too much to summarize, and most upcoming features are already known or hinted at. The only question is when will things be coming, and in what order. March is the month of cooking and surviving, and perhaps June will be the month of driving along the coast (wink!). You can read up on what’s imminent in the latest DayZ devblog. The next patch, 0.37, will be released for stable servers on the 5th of March.
