Rune Factory 4 is Blowing XSEED Games Away

Rune Factory 4's sales is impressing XSEED Games.

Rune Factory is one of the IPs that sounds incredible, but most people failed to ever give a shot. Half Harvest Moon game, half JRPG, Rune Factory is one of the most fun yet in-depth handheld franchises around. And personally? Rune Factory 4 is tied with Fire Emblem: Awakening as being the most fun 3DS game I have played to date.

XSEED Games is apparently quite surprised with the amount of attention Rune Factory 4 is getting. According to their Facebook page:

“We’ve received quite a few inquiries asking about Rune Factory 4 since it’s been difficult to find in stores in North America. Don’t worry! … We’re working as quickly as possible to restock physical copies. We encourage you to periodically check back with retailers since they should be getting more in stock soon. Thanks for making Rune Factory 4 a major success.”

Last year, Neverland, developer of the Rune Factory series, reportedly stopped operations due to the changing economic conditions. Luckily, Marvelous AQL (XSEED Games is a North American subsidiary of these guys) teased a new game from the Rune Factory devs, although it’s unknown whether the reference is to Neverland or Marvelous AQL. At any rate, it will be interesting to see how these strong sales affect the franchise as a whole. Here’s to hoping it continues long after Rune Factory 4!
