Blizzard has a history of giving certain bonuses in one game for purchases in another. Diablo 3 was previously tied in this way to World of Warcraft. Diablo 3’s upcoming expansion, Reaper of Souls, is not an exception to the rule, as it has been revealed. Blizzard announced the rewards for pre-ordering Reaper of Souls, and those that do will get two goodies. The first is a unique character for Heroes of the Storm, Blizzard’s upcoming MOBA that combines multiple Blizzard universes. The character in question is Valla, a Demon Hunter, and she certainly looks cool enough. The second bonus is a pair of Wings of Valor, which is basically a nice aesthetic boost to your Diablo 3 characters.
The wings will be deployed via an in-game update on the 20th of March, while Diablo 3’s expansion Reaper of Souls will be released 5 days later, on the 25th. As far as Valla and Heroes of the Storm are concerned, it hasn’t been revealed when players will be getting either. All Blizzard had to say on the matter was “Note that Heroes of the Storm is still deep in development and does not have an announced release date, but you can stay tuned to the official game site for future updates”. It’s safe to assume that Heroes of the Storm won’t be coming in the nearby future, and estimates have it releasing towards the end of the year. Those that have already pre-ordered Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls will be getting the rewards too. Also worth mentioning is the fact that pre-ordering Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls does not guarantee beta access, whenever the beta stage will begin. It only gives you a character that normally won’t be available when the game launches.
In parallel, Diablo 3 is currently down, as the major 2.0.1 patch is being deployed. Most notably, the patch completely changes the loot system and the paragon leveling system. Obviously, many other tweaks are included as well, in preparation for Reaper of Souls’ launch next month. It’s a major patch, for an even bigger expansion back. By all accounts, Reaper of Souls could possibly turn Diablo 3 into a gaming jewel, just as Lord of Destruction has done previously for Diablo 2.
