Konami may have rushed with their announcement of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain at the 2012 Spike TV Game Awards ceremony, as investor and market analyst David Gibson shares that MGS 5 could ‘be released in FY3/2015 or FY3/2016 depending on the development process.’ The information comes out, because of Konami’s post-financials investor call.
Konami admitting Ground Zeroes is a bit short, MGS5 could be released in FY3/2015 or FY3/2016 depending on the development stage

The game was first announced via a trailer at the 2012 annual Spike TV Game Awards. Later on at the Game Developers Conference, Kojima announced Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, which acts as the prologue of The Phantom Pain.
Although Hideo Kojima has been receiving quite a lot of hassle, because of the two games, it comes as a no surprise to that one of them may be delayed until 2015/2016. Transporting a franchise to open world, especially as it is know that Kojima values the vivid fidelity of a game, can be a difficult task. For those that are unaware, Konami’s Fiscal Year 2015 starts at April 2014 and ends March 2015, while FY 2016 starts at April 2015 and ends March 2016. Investor and market analyst David Gibson also mentioned that Konami is budgeted to release 7 ‘major console titles’ in the upcoming fiscal year of 2015.

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is planned to be released on the next-gen consoles PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well as their last-gen predecessors PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Our assumption for the release date of the game is either late 2014 or spring 2015. Do you believe we will have to wait until 2016 to see MGS 5: The Phantom Pain?
