First track add-on for Forza Motorsport 5 is live….and free
It has been a few months since the launch of the Xbox One and Forza Motorsport 5. By this point, owners of the game are looking for something fresh to race on and with, and today Turn-10 Studios has provided just that. The legendary track in Elkhart Lake, WI (which is buried in the middle of nowhere) Road America, is now available on to download for Forza Motorsport 5. How much you ask? Well, how bout ‘nothin. That’s right, the downloadable track is free. The four-mile, 14-turn circuit will feature four alternate ribbons of the track. The track has also been integrated into the game’s Career Mode, so it involves more than just racing online and non-career. This also means the track is available in the Career bonus events, which is available after a Mini-Career series is complete. Lastly, there will be Road America-themed events in Rivals Mode and the multiplayer lobbies.
Road America is a legendary American track full of elevation changes, tight racing, and blind corners. The track dates back to 1955, and has seen the likes of the Trans-Am series, Indy Car, and NASCAR, and even has a bridge named Corvette Bridge (It doesn’t get much more ‘Merican than that). The first race featured Phil Hill in a Ferrari Monza squeezing out a tense victory over Sherwood Johnston’s Jaguar D-Type. If Phil Hill doesn’t ring a bell for racing fans, the first turn at Austin’s new race track is named after him. Road America was renovated in 1992, but preserved all the major elevation changes and sharp turns. The track saw an additional bend added in that renovation, and that section is included in the download.
To go along with the track download announcement, Turn-10 Studios will release the Road America Booster Pack, which includes five cars for Forza Motorsport 5. These cars are listed below, and offer quite a diverse buffet of different driving types and styles to test out on the newly released circuit.
Road America Booster Pack
2006 #2 Audi Sport North America R8
1995 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1
1968 Ferrari 365 GTB/4
1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1
2009 Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series
The five-car pack is free for Forza Motorsport 5 Car Pass owners, but the announcement does not state a price for non-pass owners. This bonus back is available in addition to the six monthly DLC packs that will be received through May 2014. Road America is a track that is not in a ton of racing games, however it is a brilliant race track and a fine addition to this game.
