The popular Final Fantasy MMORPG, A Realm Reborn is coming to the Playstation 4 consoles this April. Square Enix has revealed that the launch date for the PS4 version of A Realm Reborn will be the 14th of April, 2014. An early access for the game will also be included (from the 11th to the 13th), and beta information has also been revealed. There will be two beta testing stages for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, on that will last from the 22nd of February to the 3rd of March, and one that will take place between the 4th of April and the 7th.
To gain access to the beta, all you need to have is a Playstation 4 console. Pretty neat, huh? Characters won’t transfer through beta stages though, as Square Enix will wipe the characters of the first beta stage. In addition to these dates, new information has been revealed about transferring from platforms. Playstation 3 players of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be able to transfer their accounts to the Playstation 4 free-of-charge. However, doing so will make the game unplayable on the Playstation 3. This means that if you want to play Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn on both the old and the new consoles, you’ll need to purchase the game separately.
Those that transfer their accounts from the PS3 to the PS4 will be eligible for early access to the Playstation 4’s launch, which begins on the 11th of April. You’ll need to have at least one log-in on your Playstation 3 in order to be able to transfer.
In addition to bringing improved graphics (at 1080p mind you), the Playstation 4 version has some neat features. Keyboard and Mouse support is included, as is touchpad support for the Dualshock 4 controller. Also worth mentioning are the share-support feature, allowing you to share screenshots or streams, and the PS Vita Remote Play feature. And, to have some visuals to go along with the wall of text, here’s a brand new trailer for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, recorder entirely on the Playstation 4:
