Witcher 3 will use up most of the PS4’s and Xbox One’s resources

Marcin Iwinski, CEO of CD Projekt Red has recently declared that the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – coming most likely sometime this June – will make use of most of what the Xbox One and Playstation 4 can offer in terms of hardware. The reasons behind this feat come from the fact that the developers designed the Witcher 3 by ignoring the limitations of the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. This allowed them to design a game for the next generation of platforms, and did not force them to make compromises.

“There is a lot of power in these machines, and I don’t want to say we’re using them to their capacity, but we’re fairly close to doing so” stated Mr. Iwinski in an IGN exclusive interview. “So we’ve spent a lot of time with these machines, and it’s been a great experience across all three platforms. On the old platforms, namely the Xbox 360 and PS3, we probably would have had to sacrifice nearly half of our vision” he went on. In fact, it seems that the current game, in its current state would be impossible to adapt for the past-generation consoles without severely compromising gameplay and core features.

The truth is, the game looks amazing indeed, with some of the largest open-world cities to be seen in any open-world RPG. The physics engine and the environment is also nothing short of stunning, so it comes as little surprise that the Witcher 3 uses up that much of the hardware capabilities of the Xbox One and Playstation 4. PC users should be prepared to handle the most likely high requirements of the Witcher 3 as well.

And, because leaving some breadcrumbs never hurt nobody marketing-wise, Marcin Iwinski also mentioned that the Witcher 3 will have over 36 different possible endings and will provide around 100 hours of gameplay on average. That means we’ll have plenty to do when The Witcher 3 finally launches, and a lack of replayability won’t be a flaw of the game.
