The graphical fidelity of Titanfall and the innovative gameplay makes it one of the most anticipated games of 2014. As a few days ago lucky players were able to get access to the closed Alpha version of the game, gameplay footage quickly spread out through various video sharing websites. However, the videos were quickly taken down one by one.
From what people managed to see, some various problems caught their attention. As it was previously known, the maximum player count is 6 vs. 6, mainly because of the AI, but what we learned was that the AI is not as difficult as most players suggest it should be. In a recent twitter post Respawn Community Manager Abbie Heppe said that although the aggressiveness and difficulty of the AI can’t be changed, the game will have different types of AI from which the players can choose from.
The complexity of the AI is not the only problem in the leaked footage of Titanfall Alpha, as one of our sources noted. Although, graphically the game is stunning, the aesthetics of the Titans seem to be bothering most players. The Titans seem to move too much like human beings, while their design strongly suggests a more mechanical, rather than techno-organic fluid build. Another aesthetics problem is that while you are in the Mecha-bot you don’t hear the sounds that can be heard from outside. This may not seem as a huge problem, but for next-gen games that are focused on realism and improved aesthetics, Titanfall aesthetics can ruin the experience for some players. Others suggest, that the game bears strong resemblance to the gameplay of another famous AAA title from the FPS genre – Call of Duty.
However, the overall quality of the game is impressive and after all the footage that leaked was from Titanfall Alpha. The game is set to be released for the PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in March and two months are more than enough for Respawn to fix these minor game problems. After all, isn’t that what the Alpha and Beta versions of the game are all about – fixing the small problems that can’t or aren’t noticed in the development process?
