by GH Staff

The 2014 edition of the Consumer Electronics Show seems to be full of gaming surprises. After Valve revealed its official Steam Machines partners yesterday and nVidia showed its new Tegra K1 processor, Sony revealed their new could gaming service called PlayStation Now.

Although, it was expected for some time now, because Sony acquired the cloud gaming company Gaiki back in the summer of 2012, their PlayStation Now streaming service wasn’t presented until a few hours ago.

Classic PlayStation games and exclusive titles will be available via the new cloud gaming service Sony is offering on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita tablets and even some 2014 Sony Bravia TVs.

The service will first hit the PlayStation 4 as gamers will be able to play only available PS3 titles. The company will then make the service available for the PS Vita. Availability of the PlayStation Now cloud gaming service to tablets, smartphones and some 2014 Sony Bravia TVs was also mentioned at the Sony’s CES 2014 press conference, but official timetable wasn’t announced.

The closed beta will start later this month as the official release date is set for the Summer of 2014. Players will be able to rent some of their favorite titles or choose a subscription plan that will give access to various titles and genres.

What do you think about the PlayStation Now cloud gaming service? Do you believe that this proves that next-gen consoles will actually be nothing else but exclusive content based hardware?
