Nintendo offering free Legend of Zelda: Four Swords copies
There’s nothing better than free stuff, right? Nintendo seems to think so, as it’s offering Legend of Zelda: Four Swords freely for the 3DS and 2DS. “Just go to Nintendo eShop on your Nintendo 3DS or 2DS fromThursday, Jan 30, at 9am (PST) until Sunday, Feb 2, at 11:59pm (PST) to download the game for free!” states a Nintendo ad.
Nindendo’s reasoning behind this may come from several sources. They might be celebrating the fact that The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds got Gamespot’s 2013 Game of the Year award. They might be preparing for the launch of A Link Between Worlds on the Wii U eShop, a launch that is coming really soon. Or they might just try to further boost 3DS sales, after Nintendo has been struggling with Wii U and 3DS sales. Regardless, free Legend of Zelda games can’t be a bad thing, can they?
The only downside of the offer is the fact that’s it’s limited to the United States. Nintendo and Zelda fans from Europe and Australia have already expressed their disappointment quite vividly. We’re not sure that pissing off fans at this point is a great approach from Nintendo, considering that they should be mending wounds, not creating new ones.
Regardless, you can get your free copy until Sunday, so hurry up. And, when Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds will be made available on the Wii U eShop (it’s currently available on the regular Wii shop), Nintendo is planning ” “a special Art Academy SketchPad event in Miiverse”.
