New trailer and screenshots for Dark Souls 2
The wait is almost over, as Dark Souls 2 approaches it’s March 11th launch date (13th of March in Europe). And, to help with the wait, the guys at Namco Bandai and From Software offered us a new trailer, as well as a nice bunch of screenshots.
The screenshots focus on highlighting the various armor designs and monsters in the game. I have to admit, I’m a huge fan of this type of artwork and armor. I never got hooked on the over-the-top shiny designs often seen in Asian MMO’s. Instead, I like my characters wearing rusty and bloody chain mails and rags, and Dark Souls 2 will deliver. Everything looks mature, serious and gritty, and I love it.
In other related news, the developers have been shedding some light on whether or not they will be releasing next-gen console versions of the game. It seems that this is not their main concern, as officials have stated that “We have not put any thought into this yet”. As of now, the game is aimed for a Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 release, with a PC version following shortly after the March launch. The aim of the developers was to bring Dark Souls 2 to gamers as fast as possible, and they felt that there’s still a lot of untapped potential in the previous generation consoles.
In any case, feast your eyes on these new Dark Souls 2 screenshots, and let us know what you think!
