Minecraft for Xbox One and sales performance of Minecraft on the 360

Minecraft: Xbox One edition will be hitting the new Microsoft consoles this year, and based on the success of Minecraft on the Xbox 360, it’s expected to be a great success. According to executive producer for Minecraft: Xbox One Edition, Roger Carpenter, the Xbox 360 version of the game was the 9th best-selling game in the United States in 2013. It was also the only title in the top 10 to sell on only one platform, with every other game on the list being sold for 2 more more platforms.

In a twitter post from the 17th of January, Mr. Carpenter thanks all the Minecraft fans, writing “#MinecraftXBLA (disc version) was the 9th best selling game in US in 2013! Thank you!!!”. These numbers do not include the digital versions of the game, so the numbers are even better. Which means that there’s every chance that the Xbox One version of Minecraft will do extremely well too. There’s a lot of constant content addition to Minecraft as well, so players have a lot of things to look forward to. Upcoming patches to Minecraft will allow players to play the Adventure Mode, a survival and open-world exploration take on the popular block-building game.

Minecraft is not Xbox exclusive though. A Playstation 3 edition is already avaiable, and developers 4J Studios are also working on a Playstation 4 edition. With constant updates and the availability on more and more consoles, Minecraft will most likely see a great year once more in 2014.
