Blizzard will allow players to buy level 90 boosts in World of Warcraft

Blizzard will be offering a new service for players new to World of Warcraft, or for players that are simply bored of leveling up alts. According to a post on the World of Warcraft blog, players of the popular MMORPG will be able to buy their way to level 90 instantly. This feature will be coming to the game’s test servers soon, and is aimed at helping people prepare for the upcoming Warlords of Draenor expansion pack.

It was previously announced by Blizzard that pre-ordering this new expansions would come with one such boost. “To get everyone straight to the action, when you buy the expansion, it will come with a boost to level 90 for one character on your WoW account.” declared the developer of Wolrd of Warcraft. However, Blizzard is taking it one step further, and will be offering this service fore pre-orders before the expansion pack arrives, so players can get used to their new high level character. and will also be offering this service as a purchasable perk.

“We’ve also heard feedback from players that they’d be interested in boosting multiple characters to 90, including alts they play with friends on other factions and realms. We’ve been evaluating ways to make that possible without having players go through roundabout methods (such as purchasing multiple boxes and performing multiple character transfers), and in the near future we’ll be testing out a feature that gives you the option to purchase a character upgrade directly.” explained Blizzard.

It is unclear how much this service will cost individually, and whether or not it will have the desired success. One has to wonder that paying for such a fast-forward feature isn’t depriving you of the very experience you are paying a subscription for in the first place? Of course, World of Warcraft veterans might be bored of leveling, but there’s still some sort of joy in growing a new character, not to mention the fact that leveling it is a good way to learn your way around that character.

Regardless, Warlords of Draenor will be available for pre-order soon, and while the launch date for the latest expansion hasn’t been announced yet, here’s what you can expect, among other things:

  • a new continent with 7 zones and 1 pvp zone
  • new character models
  • new heroic dungeons
  • 6 new dungeons and 2 new raids
  • level cap raised to 100
  • new talents and ability bonuses
