The Original Final Fantasy hits the Nintendo 3ds Virtual Console

by GH Staff

Final Fantasy is one of the greatest RPG franchises. Since its release, back in 1987, the game has touched the hearts of millions of fans and continues to do so to this day. With over 14 official games in the main series and hundreds of remakes, sequels and spin-offs, Final Fantasy holds seven records in both the official Guinness World Records and the GWR: Gamer’s Edition 2008. The franchise has shaped the RPG world in different ways and to remind everyone about how everything started Square Enix will be releasing the original Final Fantasy on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console.

As the game is coming to the 3DS Virtual Console, fans of the series could expect the real classic Final Fantasy experience. The story of the game is not as deeply integrated as in more recent FF games, but the turn based battles, and other classical features are still there. For the new fans, which have not experienced the first game, this would be just the right time to do so. Even though, the classic version is quite difficult, every fan of the series should have experienced it.

Final Fantasy will be released on the Nintendo 3DS virtual console on December 18th in Japan. Release dates for North America and Europe are not yet revealed.
