This does not mean however that you should be ready to retire your old console, as it still has many hours of glory and absolute impressive game play to give you. While the list of available titles for the next gen consoles is limited, the Xbox 360 catalogue is quite impressive. There are thousands of good titles you may play right away and some of them (even though they have been released during the current year) have become classics of their genres. Here are some of the best 5 games that were (and still are) available for Xbox 360, games you should play before retiring your old console and make room for the Xbox One.

Grand Theft Auto V was one of the most expected games of 2013. And it proved to be one of the best as well. Rockstar’s decision to give us three different playable characters and all the other improvements they have made to the initial franchise was one of the best pieces of news fans of the genre had received lately. The story is impressive, the game play is awesome, and the overall experience is quite unique. No other games have managed to beat the GTA franchise, and Grand Theft Auto V has also managed to beat seven Guinness Records in its first few days after the official launch.

2. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion 

Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion is a single player RPG video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks and 2K Games. This is the fourth installment from the Elder Scrolls franchise. The game was released on March 20 2006 for PC and Xbox 360. Since then, it has become on of the most popular video games available for the Xbox 360 consoles. The story develops in Cyrodiil, a province of Tamriel.

3. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 

Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare is a FPS video game developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision for PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. It has been released on November, 9 2007. Since then, Call Of Duty 4 has won many awards including the title of “The Best Xbox 360 Game” from IGN. Modern Warfare was also the best selling game of 2007. During its first two months, it managed to sell more than 7 million copies. Quite impressive.

4. Gears of War

Gears of War is a third person shooter video game developed by Epic Games and published by Microsoft Game Studios. The game was reepased on November 2006 for PC and Xbox 360. During its first 10 weeks, Gears Of War managed to sell more than 3 million copies. Thus, it became the best selling game of 2006.

5. Halo 3

Halo 3 is the third title of the Halo series, a modern FPS game developed by Bungie. The game was released on September 25, 2007 for Xbox 360. Halo 3 was preordered by more than one million people in North America only and first-day sales managed to reach $170 million in the U.S., setting a record for the highest gross of an entertainment product within 24 hours of its release.
