THQ AGAIN SIGNS UP TO WWE

THQ have signed an eight year contract with World Wrestling Entertainment, giving them the rights to continue to make games based on World Wrestling Entertainment content from the first of January next year. Brian Ferrell, President of THQ, said in a statement that “This agreement ensures that WWE games will continue to be an important cornerstone of THQ’s annual release schedule for the long term… We look forward to working directly with WWE to expand their brand in the video game space through continued game play innovation and increased online delivery of WWE content.” The Chief Operating Officer of World Wrestling Entertainment, Donna Goldsmith, echoed Ferrell’s sentiments with her own comments, noting “As one of the most successful video game brands, WWE is excited to work directly with THQ to translate WWE’s colourful characters and ever changing content into exciting and fresh video games for our fans.” The new deal gives THQ exclusive rights on all World Wrestling Entertainment games all over the world. THQ have also finally reached a settlement with toy maker Jakks Pacific, with whom something of a ruckus erupted back in July over the pair’s Pacific LLC joint venture World Wrestling Entertainment license covering toys and video games. The settlement agreement that has been reached has seen all claims withdrawn and all legal action ended without either party admitting any wrongdoing, although THQ will be forced to pay Jakks Pacific over thirteen million US dollars as a result of the deal.
