Delayed Blur

“Blur”, the much anticipated new game from Bizarre Creations, has had its released delayed by Activision, and will now not be released until next year. The move is not entirely unexpected, but will come as yet another disappointment for gamers, for whom 2009 has started to become a somewhat thin year.

CEO Mike Griffin says that the decision to delay the release of “Blur” was made “to give the development team more time to enhance the game’s innovative and distinctive online multi player game play.” He says that Activision are “committed to making “Blur” a great new racing franchise, and we are very encouraged by the game’s design… The additional time will allow the studio to fully optimise the vision they set out to create for “Blur”, including a distinctive and groundbreaking multi player mode that will appeal to a broad audience.”

One of the designers of “Blur”, Ged Talbot, has previously told computerandvideogames.com that that the game has “a whole new set of rules for custom races” compared to other racing games, including “the idea that you can tune the game using the rule sets to create pretty much any experience you might want as a racer… we’re hopeful that the level of customisation will allow us to create radically different types of group… its also about expressing yourself.”

The pushing back of the release date of “Blur” into next year is yet another in a number of high profile games scheduled for 2009 that have since been pushed back to 2010.
