“Blur”, the new racing game from Activision Publishing under the Bizarre Creations label, is set for a release in November, Activision Publishing’s President Michael Griffiths announced in a post-earnings conference call yesterday. Griffith first discussed the game back in May, at the company’s end of year fiscal earnings conference call, saying “Blur” would “do for racing what “Call To Arms” did for shooting”, and now he has confirmed the game will be arriving in stores for the PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 markets in the penultimate month of the year.
First described as “”Mario Kart” meets “Forza””, “Blur” is a mash-up between the traditional racing game and an all-out actioner, with destructive weaponry available to drivers including deployable mines. The game will also include some real life racing environments from places such as Barcelona and Los Angeles, and licensed cars. With rolling start races that incorporate such non-regulation driving activities as targeting the car in front of you with electric shocks, nitro boosts and stunts such as shunts (ramming the car directly in front) and barges (hitting cars on the left and right), the game is sure to delight both racing fans and action junkies, with the courses designed to encompass both alternate racing routes and plenty of shortcuts along the way. There are dozens of different vehicle models to choose from, and plenty of damage that can be inflicted upon them – plus some repair stations along the way.
“Blur” is set to support up to twenty players online and via a system link when it is released in November.
